This role provides the opportunity to be part of a brand-new service in Kensington and Chelsea, working with our communities to keep the borough healthy, clean and safe.
Joining the Warden Service, you will help deter crime and anti-social behaviour, promote community safety and reduce residents’ fear of crime, providing a highly visible uniformed patrol service across our streets, estates and open spaces.
Working alongside other Council teams you will build relationships with residents through established forums, community events, youth clubs as well as informally in the community.

You will have excellent verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all members of the community and remain calm in all situations.
You will have a positive attitude towards partnership working, collaborating with other agencies including the police.
Using your key communication skills, you will be able to interview members of the public and accurately observe situations and record information clearly.
Demonstrating flexibility, you will be available to work a shift rota over seven days including weekends, evenings and bank holidays and a willingness to patrol in uniform on foot and by bicycle.
Post holders are required to hold a full UK driving licence.
- To deter crime and anti-social behaviour, promote community safety and reduce residents’ fear of crime.
- To ensure the highways and other open areas in RBKC are kept in a clean condition at all times and are free from litter, dumped waste and graffiti, and to ensure residents take responsibility for their rubbish.
- To gather evidence to support action against those committing crime, environmental crime or anti-social behaviour.
- To ensure that all highways are free from obstructions including unlicensed tables and chairs, builders’ materials, unsafe scaffolding, unlit skips etc.
- To detect breaches of conditions and take enforcement action against the person/company responsible.
- To issue fixed penalty notices.
- To provide a high visibility, uniformed patrol service.
- To liaise with other services where areas of work overlap.
- To take part in joint patrols, including weapon sweeps, and contribute to multi-agency initiatives.
- To use CCTV to capture evidence that can be used in prosecution.
- To monitor areas where anti-social behaviour or illegal activities may be occurring.
- To enforce against breaches of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).
- To take part in community events.
We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
